Maurizio Cerizza

Maurizio Cerizza

Maurizio Cerizza comes from an Italian perfumery dynasty: born into a family whose company, EMA, began in Milan in 1946, he literally grew up among essences and absolutes—visiting his father’s distillation vaults and inhaling jasmine, rose, sandalwood vapours as a child. He studied at the prestigious Roure perfume school under René Ricord—a protégé of Jean Carles—where he absorbed the disciplined method of “writing” a perfume on paper before touching raw materials.

Cerizza’s signature style blends artistic intuition with raw material mastery: he treats ingredients like colours in a palette, envisioning accords like a painter or musician. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he’s created over 100 fragrances—balancing tradition and innovation across Italian and international brands. His creations stand out for their depth, emotional resonance, and a refined “Made in Italy” craftsmanship that honours the family’s heritage while embracing modern sensibilities.
