Arnaud Poulain
Arnaud Poulain, born in 1986 in Arras (Nord region, France), left behind the family traditions of metal-working and farming to pursue an unusual path: first studying mechanical engineering and industrial mechanics, then discovering perfumery through a chance encounter. After training at Cinquième Sens under mentor Amélie Bourgeois, he embraced the role of “scent mechanic”—blending his engineering mindset with olfactory creativity.
As founder and perfumer of Les Eaux Primordiales (est. 2015), Arnaud merges precision, artistry and storytelling. His signature style features meticulously macerated fragrances—each patiently aged over a year—and collections grouped by conceptual ideas: Supercritique (floral focus), Superfluide (spices, resins, woods) and Superclassique (modernised classics). His work is defined by sharp contrasts—industrial heritage meets emotional memory, mechanical discipline meets olfactory fantasy—resulting in perfumes that feel both architecturally sound and deeply human.
